“America is blessed with abundant natural resources and a historical legacy of productive prowess. In any multinodal array, the American node will be among the most prominent.” Great article Kevin! As much as we criticize the current geopolitical arrangement, even if America were to be taken down a few notches, it is still blessed by numerous advantages as you mentioned. My question is where does this leave Europe? It lacks resources in any meaningful quantity, outside of Greenland. What do you see in its future?

Europe's only viable future is to fully integrate into the larger Eurasian economy. For 500 years Europe used superior firepower and economic might to gain access to Eurasian (and African) natural resources and markets. Those days are over! The US trying to cleave Europe away from Eurasia, is like trying to separate two Siamese twins, one strong and powerful and the other weak and dependent. Tiny and delicate Europe cannot survive any such geopolitical surgery and must start reconnecting its recently severed economic connections back to Eurasia.

The ecological analogy was extremely compelling. System dynamics make more sense seen this way. Thanks

To abuse your analogy, the Maypole has a bucket of 'Roundup' teetering on the top, and the senile, old priesthood - both in DC and the client state 2d tier priests in Europe and Asia - routinely threaten the potato heads with poison and destruction. Can the rhizomes avoid that calamity? The way the priesthood in DC talks, I'm not sure.

That's a good point to think about. What are the strategies that the Maypole can use to destroy the potato patch?
